Eugene Carrel et Fils Jongieux Vin de Savoie France, 2009

This wine, produced from the local Jacquere grape, is pure spring mountain freshness in a bottle. The Savoie region sits in the French Alps and contains the highest vineyards in France. Great care is taken to gently press the grapes and ferment the juice in stainless steel in order to preserve a clean purity to the wine. A sniff and sip is reminiscent of alpine flowers, green apples and pears surrounded by mountain rock. Enjoy this with goat cheese and pear arugula salad.

Delightfully refreshing and clean. A bright, aromatic nose bursting with juicy ripe fruits and boasts luscious flavors of Anjou pear, fresh pineapple, apricot and white nectarine. The unique marriage of two varietals would never share the same bottle in their native France: the crisp, honeyed fruit of Chenin Blanc with the floral aromas and juicy stone fruit notes of Viognier. Pairs well with light salads, seafood and foods with a hint of spiciness.

Royal Chenin Blanc, South Africa, 2009

So vibrant, its aromas fly out of the glass – tropical fruits like pineapple, grapefruit, lime zest, guava, gooseberries, and a crisp, tangy finish with notes of green apple and honeysuckle. Fresh, lean, crisp, breezy and charming! It hints more towards the French Vouvray style of Chenin Blanc, meaning it’s not over-the-top with its fruit characteristic, instead just offering them up gracefully. Perfect end-of-summer sipper that will go nicely with a porch swing and a sunset.
